meet erica

A wife, a mom, a photographer and a southern girl from a small town in rural Virginia, born and raised. A mom of three with two in my arms and one above in Heaven who walks with me every day in my heart. Our family farm may be where my home sits but I feel most complete when crossing over that magical bridge eastbound to the sandy + salty shores of the Outer Banks! My hubby works swing shift which is not ideal for family life but we are making it work. With that said we are raising our babies the best way we know how. I am an advocate for my children through and through, we have to be their voices so they are heard!

I'm Erica Chaplin.

If a starfish loses a limb, it can sustain life and grow another limb. This makes the starfish the perfect symbol of regeneration and healing. When healing physically or mentally from a trauma, a starfish can be a personal reminder of what you have been through and the strength that took you through it.

I grew up in Dinwiddie, VA on our 100+ year old family farm! Pretty cool right!? Earned a Bachelor in Business Management at VCU. I met my love, Jason, and was living my dreams. We were working full time and a few years later starting a family with our first baby, Trevor. This is not where I get to tell you life went on being an amazing ride. This is where our world was rocked in a way we could have never imagined, we lost Trevor at the young age of 2.5 years. I was faced with feeling alone, lost, terrified to move forward in life, lost myself, lost my purpose but through my faith was able to navigate the new life I was living. Five weeks after the most devastating day of our lives, we celebrated the birth of Hunter. Talk about a rollercoaster. But he saved me. He taught me to live again. He also lives with the disease but thanks to Trevor giving his life to save Hunters, we are educated and now know how to care for him! After months of IVF with PGD, we welcomed our free spirited Brianna to complete our family. Through this rollercoaster I call life, photography has always been my outlet to help ease the stressful times. I was grateful for the thousands of pictures to remember Trevor by! All those times I had stuck him in front of my camera are now priceless! Realizing I could share my passion for pictures and also spend more valuable time with my children by owning a photography business, I was all in and here we are today living our best life!
